Denver Mountain Parks Tours - Genesee

  • Genesee Park - Patrick House Trailhead 27460 Genesee Lane Golden, CO, 80401 United States (map)

Join us for our second Denver Mountain Parks tour. This time at Genesee Park. We will be going on an easy, family-friendly hike. We will be on an ADA accessible paved footpath. The hike will include the buffalo overlook. Acquired in 1914, the herd numbers approximately 50 and continues Denver’s conservation and stewardship efforts, and provides a living link to western history. In addition to the bison, Genesee boasts expansive rolling meadows, mountain valleys, and thick pine forests. The Chief Hosa Lodge, designed by one of Denver’s most famous architects, Jules Jacques Benedict, and built of native stone and logs in 1918, is also located in the park. The Lodge was named for Southern Arapahoe Chief Little Raven, whose nickname was Chief Hosa.

We will meet at the red star highlighting the Patrick House. Take exit 253 off I-70. Make a left and drive over I-70 to the road right before Chief Hosa Lodge. You take a left there, so Chief Hosa is on your right. Go down that road until it forks, then take the left fork and proceed to the parking lot. Keep an eye out for the Lisa for Denver banner to find us.
